= Highlights of the Yucatan Peninsula =
Day 1: Arrival Cancun - Puerto Morelos
You will be met at the airport in Cancun by Pieter, founder of United Amigos. He accompanies you to the supplier's office, where you can pick up the car and gives the necessary tips and tricks to enjoy a pleasant and worry-free journey.
The first ride goes to Puerto Morelos, a small, quiet fishing village that has not been affected by the mass tourism of Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
Casa Falabella is run by Pieter and his Mexican girlfriend Fabiola. Enjoy your first night in a spacious comfortable king size bed. The room has its own bathroom, air conditioning and terrace to enjoy a nice glass of wine together.

Day 2: Puerto Morelos - Valladolid
We start this day with a visit to the beautiful cenote Verde Lucero, where the local monkeys welcome you and always keep an eye on the cenote as local guards. Take a refreshing dip or drop into the water via a zipline.
The ride continues via the ruta de los cenotes (road between Puerto Morelos and Leona Vicario) towards Valladolid. Along the way you'll pass various (still authentic) Mayan villages, where time seems to stand still.There's an optional visit to a rancho (ranch) too.
After arrival in Valladolid you can leave the suitcases at the Mesón de Marqués hotel, your accommodation for 2 nights in Valladolid. Then you can optionally visit in the colonial town.

Day 3: Valladolid - Ría Lagartos - Las Coloradas - Ek Balam - Valladolid
Early morning departure to Ría Lagartos, the most beautiful nature reserve of Yucatan. Along the way you'll come across local villages, but also several ranchos that are owned by large landowners with hundreds of cows.
During this private boat trip (2 hours) our local English-speaking guide takes you along the mangroves in search of crocodiles. We also observe a number of flamingo colonies with numerous albatrosses and birds that are specific to the region.
The tour continues to Las Coloradas, the huge salt mines that turn the waters pink. We stop briefly to take some nice pictures before returning to the nice fishing village of Ría Lagartos.
In the afternoon Ek Balam is on the program, the impressive Mayan ruines from which you have a beautiful view of the vast jungle.

Day 4: Valladolid - Ruins Yaxunah - Chichen Itza - Merida
In the morning you will leave with our English-speaking guide to the less known ruins of Yaxunah. Imagine yourself as a real Indiana Jones and climb to the open plain where new ruins are exposed every month on this site. Our Maya guide speaks passionately about how his ancestors lived here.
After the visit to these beautiful ruins, the tour continues to the village, where you can first take a dip in the peaceful cenote. Since we are in a remote place, chances are that you will have it all for yourself. Then we continue the visit to the village with the local Maya population that has not been affected by mass tourism.
Meet the local "bakery", where you can see how tortillas are made. We also stop at the studio where hammocks are made and you will see a live demonstration.
The ride continues to Chichen Itza, one of the new wonders of the world. On site you can optionally hire a guide who can also tell you fantastic stories about the Mayan civilization.
We spend the night in Merida.

Day 5: Merida - Cenotes of San Antonio - Uxmal - Santa Elena
On the way to the south we'll visit today the beautiful Mayan site of Uxmal. First stop is the rural community of San Antonio Mulix and the two cenotes, where there is plenty of time to refresh in the clear water. Then we have lunch in the magical setting of an old restored hacienda and visit Uxmal in the afternoon with a personal English-speaking guide. Classified by UNESCO as a world heritage, this Mayan site surprises with architectural and decorative details, all still in an incredible state.
Free time on the site.Short transfer to Santa Elena, where you will stay in a nice little bungalow.

Day 6: Santa Elena - Hacienda Sotuta de Peón - Izamal
Departure to Izamal, the yellow, peaceful colonial city. Along the way, across the Yucatan countryside, stop at the beautiful Hacienda Sotuta de Peón, one of the few that has been restored to show visitors the old sisal plantations and the fibers obtained that enriched this region in times past. Tour the place and swim in the cenote of the hacienda.
Arrival in Izamal in the afternoon. You have time to take a tour of the city center to discover the old monastery, the various artisan workshops and the remains of pyramids that can still be found in the heart of the city.

Day 7: Izamal - Tulum -Holbox
Departure in the morning to reach the Mayan town of Tulum. The view of the ocean is wonderful. Lunch on site and transfer to Chiquila, where you leave the car to take the ferry. After crossing for 30 minutes you will arrive on the island of Holbox. Holbox is still preserved from large buildings and mass tourism and has beautiful large beaches with turquoise water. The atmosphere is very Caribbean, the inhabitants, especially fishermen or operators of tourism at sea, stand opposite the visitors and offer a range of activities: kayak, bicycle, paddle, yoga, snorkeling etc.

Day 8: Holbox (day off)
